This past Saturday morning, with beautiful weather in the mid 70’s and low humidity, a group of Spartans journeyed to the Bronx Zoo for a “fun-formational” tour led by zoo enthusiast and chapter president, Greg Hauser. Greg admits that zoo visits were a highlight of his childhood, prompting him to earn his degree in Zoology from Michigan State.

Time: 11:00 a.m – 3:00 p.m.
Cost: Museum entrance fee ($19 Adult/$14.50 Sr./$10.50 Child, 2-12)

This trip’s focus will be the predator-prey relationship through evolution, from the ancient seas where life began through the time of the dinosaurs, and then through the time of archaic mammals up until the present.

Governors Island Tour 2011

Over 20 Spartans came out to our tour of Governors Island on Saturday August 20th, 2011. Part of the group included Kathryn Vetter our Endowed Scholarship winner as well as several Spartans who are brand new to NYC (some just graduated in May).

Everyone enjoyed the chance to learn more about NYC as well as the beautiful walk with the magnificent views of the Statue of Liberty and the NYC skyline.

Governors Island New York

Just a 7 minute ferry ride from lower Manhattan, Governors Island is the largest undiscovered park in New York City and it will be getting bigger every year. The tour will give you the opportunity to meet and network with other Spartans and enjoy great views of NYC and the Statue of Liberty (the photographs below were taken from Governors Island).

On Saturday June 4th, one dozen Spartans enjoyed the opportunity to network and socialize sweetened by common Spartan experience and by some the the best chocolate in NYC. It was a beautiful day to enjoy a walk that begin with chocolate from a market stand on the Lower East Side and finished in the West Village at Abington Square.
