Recap: Spartan Fall Fest 2012
Posted by Larry Alterman | September 23, 2012
Spartan Fall Fest 2012 was held on September 21st, at the Heartland Brewery in New York City’s Empire State Building. Spartans ranging in graduation year from 2012 to those who graduated over 50 years ago had the opportunity to meet each other and build upon their common Michigan State experiences. It is quite safe to say that new friendships were born, potential business opportunities were discussed and the greatest city in the world was made a little smaller for everyone who attended.
It is so nice when you see two Michigan State Alums, over 25 years apart in age, realize that not only did they attend Michigan State University, but they both graduated from Plymouth Salem High School, and now both live in the NYC area. About 25 percent of those in attendance at the Fall Fest had never attended a NY Spartan Alumni event and were thrilled to learn how many Michigan State events take place in New York City.
Attendees enjoyed six different beer and food pairings—and certainly took advantage of the all-you-can-eat-and-drink offer. The event also included a raffle, and a short live auction. The Spartan Fall Fest helped raise money for our endowed scholarship fund which helps Michigan State University attract students from our area. To date our endowed fund has a value in excess of $100,000, and we thank all who turned out and helped us add to the total.
We look forward to seeing you at our Third Annual Spartan Fall Fest in September 2013.
