Recap: 2014 Fall Fest Boat Cruise
Posted by Hanna Porterfield | September 21, 2014
On Friday evening, about 35 New York area Spartans kicked off their weekend at our Fall Fest Boat Cruise with Hornblower Cruises, one of New York’s luxury cruise lines.
The boat set sail from Pier 15 at 6 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2014, and attendees quickly made their way to the buffet, where a variety of food such as pasta, chicken wings, cheese, vegetables and dip, beef and other tasty treats, were available. There also was an open bar of beer and wine and a cash bar for other alcoholic beverages available on both levels of the double-decker boat. Several Michigan State Alumni Club of Greater New York board members, as well as other New York area Spartans, gathered at their reserved table to eat their delicious dinner and catch up with one another.
There was also DJ on the lower level who helped get the party started with a mix of current hits and old favorites. Shortly after the boat left the dock, everyone made their way outside to take in the beautiful views of lower Manhattan and New Jersey. Just as the sun was setting, the captain pulled the boat up next to the Statue of Liberty, making for the perfect photo op. The boat then made its way to the Brooklyn Bridge, giving event attendees another chance to take some great photographs.
As the night went on, more and more people made their way to the dance floor to show off their dance skills. Eventually, a small crowd formed around the space as everyone watched the dancers take center stage.
The boat returned to the dock at 8 p.m., and everyone de-boarded with full stomachs, plenty of pictures and great memories.
