New York Spartan of the Week: Michelle Martin

A few Spartan questions for Michelle Martin:

Q: What was your major at MSU and what year did you graduate?
A: Journalism and Graphic Design, 2009

Q: What are you doing now for work?
A: I work in content marketing for a software company. I do a lot of content generation, social media management and design. I’m basically a modern-day lady version of Don Draper, minus the alcoholism.

Q: Where do you live?
A: Why the best place, of course! Upper East Side, Manhattan

Q: Favorite NYC restaurant?
A: It seems impossible to pick just one. I always seem to keep taking visitors and out-of-towners to Barbounia, an amazing Mediterranean place on 20th and Park in the Flatiron District. Get the cheese fondue–it’s reminiscent of saganaki from any of the Coney Island locations in Detroit, only better.

Q: What is best part of living in the NY area?
A: Every day is a challenge, but also an adventure. To wake up every morning and know that you have not only survived the most expensive and toughest city in the world, but conquered it…that’s pretty cool.

Q: What is best part of being a Spartan in New York?
A: The first thing I did after accepting a job offer in New York was find out how to get plugged in with local Spartans. It gives me a sense of belonging in a city where that’s really tough to find. I met my closest friends through our club and it’s given me a unique framework in which to experience the city.

Q: If you could invite 3 people from any time who were associated with Michigan State to dinner who would they be?
A:  Jud Heathcote, Tom Izzo and my Dad.
