In 1950, Charlie Parker with Strings was the recording that transformed Charlie “Bird” Parker from a bebop innovator into a pop superstar. Sixty years later those orchestrations like the hit single “April in Paris,” still sound brilliant, as leading saxophone ornithologists Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson and Charles McPherson will demonstrate.

The first half of the show will be performed in a sextet setting, and in the second half, with a string section led by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas and more.
