Join the MSU Alumni of Greater NY on Friday, September 14th from 6:00-9:00 pm at Rooftop Reds in Brooklyn. The evening will include a 3-hour open bar serving wine, beer, and cheese platters.
Located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Rooftop Reds introduced the world’s first commercially viable urban rooftop vineyard in Brooklyn, New York.
Last Saturday, April 21, 2018, 12 NYC-Area Spartans came together for MSU Global Day of Service. In collaboration with other Big Apple Big Ten alumni we helped GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center prepare for their annual gala. Volunteers got crafty, helping to make signage and decorations as well as assisted with processing silent auction items.
The 21 Spartan alumni, friends, and neighbors who gathered Saturday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art were entertained and informed during an illuminating hour long “highlights” tour.
The Temple of Dendur, for example, a gift to the U.S. from the Egyptian government, is housed in a wing built expressly for it.
On Friday, September 15th, about 25 New York area Spartans celebrated the beginning of fall at Heartland Brewery on 34th Street.
This year’s Fall Fest event was held in cozy, semi-private space that made it easy to meet and network with a lot of new Spartan faces.
On Friday, September 9, four dozen New York area Spartans and friends enjoyed a memorable night of dancing and fun on the Hudson River during the 2016 Fall Fest Boat Cruise with Hornblower Cruises. The night was jubilant as everyone celebrated New York and creating new friendships amongst area Spartans.
New York-area Spartans gathered in Central Park’s Ross Pinetum on Sunday, August 7, 2016 for the MSU Alumni Club of Greater New York’s annual family picnic. The event had our largest showing yet, with 51 Spartans in attendance.
Current board members, including club president Jason Johnson, local MSU alumni and several current students and incoming freshman all came out to the park to mingle and network on a beautiful summer day.
More than 40 alumni and friends saw a tense, fast-paced hockey game on Monday, January 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the New York Islanders, 4-2. The game’s highlight came in the second period when former Spartan star Justin Abdelkader (2005-08) scored the goal which gave the Wings a lead they didn’t relinquish.
On Friday, September 11, about 42 New York-area Spartans and friends enjoyed a memorable cruise around the Hudson and East Rivers during the 2015 Fall Fest Boat Cruise. The night was magical as everyone mingled under the setting sun with other alumni from the New York region.
